SYdove Shalom Yoga

Jewish Spirituality, Yoga
and Contemplative Practice

Offering Yoga, Relaxation and Meditation Classes and Workshops

All Shalom Yoga programs begin with the belief that we each possess a tranquil and complete inner self that is our true self and our true connection to the divine. As we move through our lives we often lose our awareness of this Shalom, this complete and harmonious center, and become distracted by the stressors and challenges of everyday life.

Using the tools of yoga practice and the teaching of Judaism, Shalom Yoga programs help to peel away the layers that separate us from our inner world of tranquility and contentment. Moving the body encourages us to experience ourselves and the world in a new and fulfilling way as we release physical tension and develop strength and balance. Incorporating the concept of shalom into class content students are encouraged to be at peace with themselves, to honor and nurture their bodies and spirit by moving gently and mindfully.

Classes are appropriate for beginners and continuing yoga students. No yoga experience necessary!

ShalomYoga™ programs have been featured at: Little River Yoga, Agudas Achim Congregation, Congregation Olam Tikvah, and Kol Ami (Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community) Retreat. Temple Rodef Shalom Women's Spirituality Retreat, JCCNV Active Retirees.

ShalomYoga™ programs are available for your settings.

Shalom Yoga™ offers a series of yoga, relaxation and meditation classes and workshops designed to create and cultivate a sense of Shalom--Peace.
All Shalom Yoga™ classes are designed to teach participants how to relax the body and mind while engaging the spirit.
Many Shalom Yoga™ class themes are based in the hebrew calendar; classes reflect the richness of experience that Judaism offers. With stretching and yoga postures, breath awareness, Jewish wisdom and music, Shalom Yoga™ offers a unique experience for participants. Moving the body encourages us to experience ourselves and the world in a new and fulfilling way as we release physical tension and develop strength and balance.Incorporating the concept of shalom into class content students are encouraged to be at peace with themselves, to honor and nurture their bodies and spirit by moving gently and mindfully. Postures and modifications of postures that allow everyone to work at a level that is safe and comfortable for them are offered. This is yoga that everyone can be comfortable with!

Flowing yoga practice combined with Jewish teachings will lead you into an inner world of stillness and harmony while strengthening and stretching your body. Yoga practice relieves physical and mental stress, develops flexibility, and helps to develop a sense of balance and ease.
